Aki Energy is an Indigenous non-profit social enterprise that works with First Nations to support the growth of the ‘green economy’. Aki Energy works with qualifying First Nations and Manitoba Hydro to deliver the ‘Pay As You Save’ Community Geothermal Program (PAYS Program) by:

Reducing utility bills
Geothermal reduces residential heating and cooling costs up to 75%.

Offer long-term, low interest financing over 20 years
Manitoba Hydro’s PAYS program offers financing and covers the full initial cost of geothermal installation.

Create local jobs
Aki Energy offers capacity development in all phases of the geothermal industry including IGHSHP certification.

Darcy Wood has over 25 years of experience working with First Nations and is current Executive Director for AKI Energy and up until March 2013 worked as the Senior Policy Analyst for AMC. He also worked within INAC’s Real Property Services. Darcy served as served Chief for his home community.
